ARIZONA ACTOR ENDORSEMENTS

Thank you, students, for these great endorsements:
Drew Langhart Actor Los Angeles
“This is probably the most honest and grateful review I’ve ever written. Many aspiring actors have had a love and desire to act their entire lives. I’m one of them. I’ve been presented with great opportunities over the last decade and have blown pretty much all of them. However, now this journey is starting to take shape.
4 years ago – I started training with Bill and Carla. I spent 5 months training with the Howey’s and decided to take a break – mainly because I wasn’t yet willing to put in the work Bill was asking for. I started back 8 months ago. Bill teaches you how to ask the right questions, understand your character’s objective, and to understand yourself enough to LET YOURSELF tell your character’s story. He pushes you to forget perfection because letting go and ‘fucking up’ is more believable. This class isn’t about acting — it’s about understanding life.
Last month I auditioned for 4 roles, and booked all 4.  I hardly consider myself a working actor – but do see some light in the never ending tunnel as I start to gain traction. I owe this to myself for finally working hard – but more importantly – to Bill and Carla for making me understand who I am and how to approach acting the right way. I can’t thank them enough. I look forward to pulling on the halyard, gaining more momentum and continuing to trim my sails as I grow as an actor. Thank you!”

“Training at the Howey Acting Studio has been a very memorable experience. Carla has given me the tools to prepare me as an actor. She has taught me to dig deep and perform in a manner of portraying a story in the most realistic manner. Carla’s methods have given me several opportunities outside the classroom. I recommend Howey’s Acting Studio because they really prepare you to be the best version of yourself in the acting world. “

“I’ve been taking class at the Howey Acting Studio for over a year and a half now and am continuously challenged. From the scene given to the critique during workshop, week by week they do an amazing job at targeting what you specifically need to work on as an actor.

Before the Howey’s I always wanted my acting to be real and truthful, but knew it truly wasn’t. I wanted to be able to let go of all my feelings I knew I had, but couldn’t. At the Howey’s vulnerability is welcomed. They helped me see things in myself I was completely unaware of and how to get out of my own way. Not only have I improved as an actor, but feel more confident and free as a person.

Bill and Carla are the most honest teachers I’ve ever studied under. To grow as an actor you need honesty. To be put out of your comfort zone is to be challenged and that’s what I constantly experience in the Howey’s class. You will discover how to allow great emotion and your strongest feelings and that’s the greatest gift an actor could hope for. The discovery will come from you. No one is just giving you answers here and that’s what sets them apart from any other acting studio.

I attended a conservatory program in NYC and lived in NY for over 9 years and never received this caliber of training. The Howey’s have changed my life and any great accomplishments from the day I started their class, to here on out, I credit to them.”

“I’ve learned a great deal about acting while taking Bill and Carla’s classes, but I’ve also noticed a positive impact they’ve had in my personal life as well. Their workshops have pushed me way out of my comfort zone, which is, I’ve learned, the only place to explore and become better. They have created a safe space for new and veteran actors to feel comfortable trying new ideas, and I always feel like I’m growing each workshop. They have this incredible ability to guide actors to authentic performances while being tough and honest but always respectful and kind. I think this is partly because they get to know their students and genuinely care about them, but also because of their years of experience. They put so much effort into every student that comes into their class and truly want each one to succeed.

I have seen a tremendous improvement in myself and now have the confidence to keep trying different ways to further better my acting. Outside of class, I’ve found that I’m not as afraid to try new things or fail because it’s so encouraged in class. It’s not surprising, given how personal acting can be, that it affects other parts of your life, but I didn’t think that I would be so grateful for it. I keep coming back because I want to become the best actor I can be, but also because I feel so wonderfully supported by my teachers and peers. And I think that’s a testament to the atmosphere Bill and Carla have created.”

“Never have I truly felt more comfortable as an actress than I have after taking these classes. There is still so much more I need to improve on, but I finally feel like I am headed in the right direction. I have more confidence when auditioning and analyzing scripts. I’m starting to understand what helps me as an actor, and Bill has helped me achieve that. It’s exciting to get more and more emails telling me I booked a role, and I attribute that to these classes. Bill and Carla are a great duo that will push you and help you realize what your true potential is. Thank you Bill and Carla!”

“I am a person who learns by doing. At The Howey Acting Studio, I am able to breathe life into a character with honest, constructive and raw feedback from Bill. I am able to work on my craft weekly, learning acting skills taken from everyday life experiences. Other acting coaching left me feeling like my mind was so convoluted with technical definitions that my train of thought was muddled. I love the freedom of thinking for myself instead of waiting to be directed per se. Bill Howey is a master at getting his students to think and to bring their life experiences into their acting so that they can play their character to the height of their ability.  I’ve learned so much about acting and myself in the four months that I’ve been studying with the Howey’s and I can truly say that I’ve never had so much acting clarity than I do today.”      Honda KingSan Tan Valley     IMDB page

“First and foremost, I am so grateful that I found Bill and Carla Howey. My first day of class I learned real quick that I would need to really work at becoming a great actor. There is no BS when it comes to feedback and pointing out what is wrong with my acting. If you don’t have thick skin and a will to give it everything you’ve got, Bill and Carla will absolutely let you know. I have taken acting classes before and I have never worked so hard…I’ve never really been told the truth about my acting and what I can do with it. Bill and Carla have a way of bringing out the best in me and my capabilities.

You could be a seasoned actor or a beginner, Howey’s acting coaching style is unique in a way that really puts you in a position to think about what it is you are trying to accomplish as an actor. What story are you trying to tell and how well do you recognize the framework of the story presented to you by the script. In the book “The Actors Menu” written by Bill Howey, a paragraph I read stuck with me. “There are no shortcuts to growth. You cannot help or speed up natural growth. Just as the butterfly needed to fight its way out the cocoon to strengthen its wings, you as an actor need to struggle through every acting problem you can find to strengthen your skills”.  I feel that I am succeeding in becoming an actor because of the progress I’ve made being in this class for only 5 months. I know that it takes time and real effort to make this work. I’m excited to see what I can do in a year or two or ten! Thank you, Bill and Carla, for being who you are and helping people like me develop and grow, not just in acting but my everyday life.”

“The Howey Acting Studio has helped me grow faster than any other acting studio I’ve ever been to. I am constantly challenged and constantly evolving. The Howey’s have taught me to think of multiple perceptions of all scenes as well as to really think outside the box. Bill is incredibly honest; he is straightforward, and he has a great attention to detail. The Howeys see things that most acting coaches do not. When notes are given attention, it makes for an incredibly successful scene. Carla is amazing at finding scenes that challenge the students in class. I feel that my growth personally and as an actress has accelerated since I’ve joined this class.”            Vai Patri

“I was desperately searching for a coach in Arizona who would be honest with me, and push me to become the best actor I can be. I have found that in Bill Howey. To have top Los Angeles coaching right here in Arizona sounds too good to be true, but Howey Acting Studio is exactly that. Bill has truly helped take my acting to the next level. He pushes me to work outside of my comfort zone, and challenges me to make things personal. Bill has taught me the value of storytelling and affecting the audience. He doesn’t tell you how to act; he plants seeds of acting knowledge to guide you along the way. This allows you as an actor to really think, learn and grow, as opposed to just being told what to do and how to say it; this method changes you from within. Carla’s scene choices are purposeful and carefully chosen, and the class setting is an environment where you feel safe to get up each week and perform. This class is not for those who just want to be told how great they are, this class is for those who are willing to put in the work and want to learn how to become great. Bill and Carla are such an amazing team and they have helped me become more confident than ever in my acting, and I continue to grow each week.”                       —Katelyn Martinez

“I have been taking classes at Howey Acting Studio for a year. Not only do Bill and Carla both have beautiful souls, but they truly care about their students. Bill brings out the “real” in his students and has a way of getting you out of your comfort zone; which is key to diving into your emotions and truly becoming the character. Carla is the ideal partner-in-crime and they absolutely compliment one another. With their knowledge and history in this industry, it only makes sense to take classes at Howey Acting Studio. I truly appreciate them both and am forever thankful for them!”
—Natasha Smith – Phoenix

“I’m pretty impressed with the training I’ve gotten so far.  What makes Bill and Carla so unique is the fact that they don’t tell you what you want to hear. They tell you what you need to hear, and that’s what’s so effective about their training.  If you’re looking for some real improvement, this is definitely the right class because they care about perfecting one’s craft as opposed to telling actors exactly what to do; instead, we have to learn how to think for ourselves, so we’re prepared for an audition or being on set without instructions needed.”

I first heard of the Howeys through an actor friend of mine.  This friend had performed a monologue at the Actor’s Showcase at Filmstock Film Festival, Bill and Carla were there. Carla contacted my friend and told him they had watched his performance and if he was interested in hearing how he came across to please call. My friend went to their studio and performed the same monologue and Bill critiqued his monologue of which my friend described it as  “he verbally ripped my performance to shreds”. The interesting thing was that my friend admitted afterwards “everything Bill told me was true.”  Months later, when I ran across the Howey Acting Studio on Facebook, I then checked out their website.  I was impressed with the articles, videos, endorsements, and the general wealth of information, so I signed up. I’ve since found that Bill and Carla know exactly what it takes to be successful in the business of acting, and their long list of students who went on to extremely successful film and television careers proves it. But this class is not some new age I’m Okay, You’re Okay touchy-feely-love-in. This is the real-deal; not for the faint of heart—no coddling, no kid gloves, no handholding. But if you truly want to learn the craft of acting, then it’s exciting and challenging in the best way possible. I highly recommend the Howey’s and their decades of real-world experience and knowledge, and as Bill said to me on the first day of class: “Let the adventure begin!”

” The Howey Acting Studio is the training ground for serious actors.”

“As an ex gymnast I know if you want to be good at whatever it is you do, you have to train hard and find the right coaches. I found Bill and Carla Howey to be those coaches. The Howey Acting Studio welcomes all who are willing to work hard and have an open mind to hard core coaching. The Howey’s scene study class is tough ,we are pushed to drive our scenes with honest emotion , to compete against ourselves to make each scene better than the last. They want us to succeed . Other coaches may tell you that your fabulous because they want you to keep coming back. Bill Howey tells you like he sees it and it isn’t always something you want to hear.

Bill may say ” Stop Acting !” “Know what you want ? ” What’s your objective”?  Class can be a very humbling experience . But we all know they really care about their students . When we give a great performance Bill and Carla also call it. It gives us a great feeling when we have learned to captivate an audience and draw them into the story. I personally have gained some insight about myself and why I was  the type of actor I was . The cliché of carrying around excess baggage applied to me, only mine was an old gym bag filled with bad habits , insecurity , louder and bigger than I needed to be. I since then got a new gym bag and am slowly putting in things that are only necessary. I learned that, less is more,  and that my honest emotion is enough to drive a scene, and that I am enough.

I learned that sometimes it is more powerful to keep it simple …still …silent and that its what is not being said that at times creates the scene. I read somewhere that one should never under estimate the power of making someone feel seen. For me , being seen by coaches Bill and Carla Howey has made me feel noticed, has been an empowering and at times a not so empowering experience, but I am a work in progress. Being seen by Bill and Carla has given me some tools to get through an audition and not be afraid to be seen. I am grateful  and I consider it a privilege to be at The Howey Acting Studio.  —Sylvia Chimbo Mesa

“Few paths in life have guides that will allow you to push your limits, risk it all, and successfully fail towards your journey to your hopeful destination. Where others teach a set generalized course of how to act, the Howeys invite us as students to understand why the root of acting is understanding the story underlining each moment. Week after week their workshop has led me to get out of my comfort zone and to be responsible for every choice I make while working my craft. The environment that they have created in class is one of communal support which has given many of us a sense of trust while we attempt new things. Bill is direct and quick to give feedback that other acting coaches would tip toe around. I have found this to be most rewarding as I am able to adjust and react without wasting time. Carla’s scene choices for us have felt personal and by no means at random. Her ability to see who needs what from a scene is second to none as they stretch us to new points each class. The Howeys say what needs to be said and will help you in your journey.”

“In having the desire and need to take my acting career to the next level I had thought long and hard about how I would accomplish that. Over the years I’ve studied under other tutors and learned what they had to give; I have been on numerous auditions for film and commercial roles as well. You must as an actor have confidence to win those roles, where does confidence come from? Knowledge that’s where.

Of all the training and tutors I’ve encountered over my working life I have found that Bill Howey provides a serious actor with the opportunity to grasp that knowledge and confidence within themselves in an honest and non patronizing manor. He may not be for everyone; but, if you as an actor seek the truth of your craft I as someone who has been in the business for quite some time and have had a level of success, I would highly recommend him, Bill provides hands down the best tutelage and craft training I’ve ever received. Being a part of his class has helped me learn more about myself, my craft, and my vulnerabilities and how to use them to my advantage as an actor.

If you choose the Bill and Carla Howey Acting Studio to move to the next level of learning your craft be prepared to tell them why you’re there; he will certainly want to know that.”

I heard about The Howey Acting Studio from a friend while on set on a Sunday, the next day I spoke with Carla about classes over the phone and by Monday evening I was registered in class. The next day on Tuesday evening, I was doing my monologue in front of class at my first workshop. Right after I finished, Bill looks at me pauses and says: “Ok, look….” and the rest was history.  In that first half hour of class Bill taught me: to be me, say what I needed to say, plant my feet, be interested, not interesting, stillness is when the audience puts 1 and 1 together and that’s when the story happens, whatever part of my body is moving, that’s where my emotion lays, and to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Whew! All that in the first half hour of class. Right then I had already learned so much more than I had with other classes I had been in. I’ve cried so many times in the scene study classes while learning how to control my emotions. Bill and Carla made me feel like I had a special place where I could just let go. I look like a wreck sometimes after class because Carla would tell me: “Come here, you look like you need a hug”. Funny thing is, after class, I have so much more energy even though I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster. I love that Bill takes the time to sit down with me and talk to me about questions that I have, but he never gives me the answers, he always tells me to go home and think about it. Because of that I have learned so much about myself as a person. It’s like emotional therapy.  Thank you to you Bill and Carla Howey for helping me develop a better understanding of myself as a person and as an actress, I couldn’t have done this without you both. Bill, you had me at “Ok, listen…”, and Carla, you had me at ” Come here, you look like you need a hug.”

“I’ve been attending weekly classes at the Howey Acting Studio since February 2017.  For nearly a year and a half, Bill Howey has been handing me my ass and I keep going back for more.  The Howey Acting Method is not about being comfortable.  It’s about breaking through an actor’s unique challenges (apparently I have a lot of them) and learning how to get deeply personal with an audience.  Rather than attempting to explain it in volumes here, I will simply tell you that Bill’s coaching is directly responsible for my successes as an actor.  In the last year and a half I have been cast in six feature films, a network television series and numerous local commercials.  My audition hit-ratio is on the rise and my enthusiasm for class and being an actor is greater than ever.

On just about every movie or TV set I see other dedicated Howey students.  They get work.  However, the Howey Acting Studio is not for every actor.  I’ve seen students give up on class and run to where learning is comfortable, back into the arms of coaches where they are told they are pretty/handsome, talented and loved.  I know better. ”

“Since studying with Bill and Carla Howey I have grown substantially as an actor. I have a better sense of confidence in my performance and am no longer hiding behind my fears. In other classes I’ve always been told or directed on what to do…. not in this class. Bill has a way of guiding you to get you to where you need to be without telling you what to do. He makes you think… he makes you feel. Carla is a wonderful balance to Bill’s way of teaching as they compliment one another, which gives this class a sense of comfort and safety in its environment. This is one of the most challenging classes you will ever take, but one of the most rewarding. There will be tears, and that is OK because that means you are progressing. I’ve never felt more ready than I do now to dive in since studying with The Howeys.”

“I literally stared my acting career roughly a few months ago and I feel that taking this class here has been a strong step in the right direction! I have always been the one that has been blunt and kept it real with my peers and rarely got it back from any one in return, so the fact that both Bill and Carla had no filter and have been completely straight forward with me is something I really appreciate because the only way to know you are doing something is when you are aware of it. In a way, I feel that multiple sports and my mom have prepared me for this kind of criticism pretty well haha! I strongly believe that both Bill and Carla are the kind of teachers that install the reality into you and teach you to think on your feet and find multiple ways to portray a character and really understand the story of the character you are displaying to the world. If you are looking for the challange and wanting to grow as not only an actor but as a person as well, this is where you need to gain the coaching from…point blank period! Only the strong survive in this industry, and these two prep you to take on any obstacle in your head in order for you to be the actor that you envision yourself to be!”

I’ve recently had a down-pouring of successful auditions which have led to more callbacks and bookings than I have ever experienced in my career. I am very grateful for my training with Bill Howey at the Howey Acting Studio as being a contributing factor for these opportunities. His technique has equipped me with the ability to THINK and make confident decisions before, during and after every audition. It has given me a new level of confidence and ability as an actress that I didn’t know was possible to reach. His teachings challenge me, mind/body and it’s so worth it! There is an infinite amount of knowledge Bill Howey carries and I look forward to absorbing something new each week. Thank you so much Bill and Carla Howey for creating a safe, challenging and comfortable environment for me to play and grow in!”

“The Howey Acting Studio has completely changed my life. Bill and Carla are not your typical acting coaches who will give you a pat on the back for doing the bare minimum. They will push you to become the actor that you never knew you could be. You will scare yourself, surprise yourself, face your fears, and find clarity in your goals. Not only will you grow as an actor, but you will find yourself changed as a person, and view the world in new and refreshing ways. I leave class every night prepared to live my life in a more honest way and use my experiences to portray the truth on camera. The Howey Acting Studio does not teach you to “pretend”, you learn to find the raw emotion that lies within you to move an audience in extraordinary ways.”

—Maddy Rathbun – Chandler

“Howey acting studio; an Arizona oasis for actors.
Whether you are answering an internal calling, starting out, looking to hone your skills or sharpen your abilities, Howey Acting Studio is the place where each class sends you away a better individual, actor and professional person. Learning that all we need is already within us and taught techniques to tap into our experiences and emotions are explored, then transferred into roles and skits. Bill and Carla’s teaching methods will stretch and challenge each individual with a specialized skill set for identifying each student’s strengths and weaknesses like a personal trainer would with one-on-one critiques in each and every class. Howey Acting Studio has a proven track record of success and is the place to be for all actors at all levels.”
—Luigi Anello – Gilbert

“The training I have been receiving with the Howeys over the past few months has caused me to take a different approach in how I think about scenes. Bill and Carla as a team are great at delivering honest, insightful feedback. In previous classes I have felt as though the instructors kept themselves from being too honest, and in turn it caused actors to cease to grow. For the first time in an acting class I have been asked to dig a bit deeper each time and consider different possibilities. I feel a continual growth as I study with Bill and Carla. ” —Melissa Lavonne – Phoenix (Moved to LA)

“When I heard that a new acting studio was coming to Mesa (where I live), I had to check it out. When I saw the impressive list of notable Hollywood actors they had taught, I knew they were going to be special. When I stopped in for an acting evaluation and got incredibly honest and constructive feedback, I knew I had to study with them. I’m a full time professional actor but I feel like I have grown and learned so much in the few months I’ve studied with them. Bill and Carla make it clear that it’s essential to take risks if you want to grow and they provide a safe place to do so. They’re not there to teach tricks to help you fool an audience, but to help you bear your most personal feelings in order to truly move your audience. I wholeheartedly recommend the Howey Acting Studio.” —Andy Cooper – Mesa

“There’s a point in your acting endeavors that you have to ask yourself, “is acting a hobby or the full time job?” I answered the later. With that I had to find a coach that could assist me in developing and honing my talent, and that team is Bill and Carla Howey. They make a dynamic duo. Their coaching style allows the actor to learn to think for themselves, to strengthen their instincts, and to truly create an authentic character. Their feedback is raw and personal, which allows the actor to break down walls and learn to be vulnerable. I highly recommend Howey Acting Studio if you are looking to become a serious actor.”

—Christine Rogers – Tempe

Carla and Bill Howey are special to me.  I never would have imagined finding Instructors this professional in Arizona.  I remember when I came in for an evaluation, I was scared and nervous, as soon as I was done with my Monologue I prepared, Bill told me something – and no not about my acting, but about me as an individual and right then I felt tears running down my face not because I was offended but because I finally found instructors who truly care about me and do what they do out of passion, honesty and love.

Bill and Carla never once told me how to act, what to do, or how to do it. Most instructors in the past have told me what to do instead of guiding me and that is the major difference which sets The Howey Acting Studio apart from the rest.

I learned that in anything I come across in life the answer is within me. I learned so much about myself that I would have never imagined; one of them is being a very emotional person. This class opened my mind and most importantly opened my heart. You have to experience the class for yourself and if you have the opportunity, please take action NOW!! its an honor to be apart of this place.  I will take every single aspect I learned from this class with me and keep it forever.  Bill is the funniest person you will meet, sometimes I wonder if he ever runs out of jokes. And Carla, wow! you see her gentle and beautiful soul right through her bright blue eyes. I want to thank you two from the bottom of my heart, you’ve made me a better person.  —Rukiya Djama  –  Phoenix

“I can honestly say that training with Bill and Carla Howey has been a blessing. I have learned how to think for myself while using my personality, vulnerability, passion, etc. Bill and Carla are instructors that love the actor, the craft, and the process. You will not be directed, “how to do something but you will be given the tools on how to use yourself as the primary resource for organic acting.” I have seen myself make decisions that I would not have thought were possible before and I can honestly say everyday, in every workshop I am learning and progressing even when I think I failed. I could not ask for more genuine coaches who truly strive to help you pursue your dream. If you want to better yourself, understand yourself more, and use yourself freely in your craft then you should sign up. I promise you will not be disappointed, you will have made a great investment for yourself.”

—Gabe John – Mesa

Having the opportunity to develop my acting skills with Bill Howey has been priceless and given me confidence in my acting that I never thought possible. There are countless techniques and methods when it comes to acting, and no one way is right for every person. This is exactly how Bill stands out above the rest, his workshop isn’t a claim of one size fits all, he will tell you himself that he’s not there to tell you how to act. Because Bill coaches actors to let go and take risks, and to make it personal to tell the character’s story, we are able to bring our own unique approach to each scene without being constrained by one technique. The feedback I’ve gotten from filmmakers has been a true testament to Bill’s guidance in allowing myself to become a more personal, honest, and spontaneous actor.                        —Shannyn Hall – Gilbert

“Howey Acting Studio is unlike any other place or class I’ve ever attended. Bill’s relentless dedication to pulling out authenticity and leading actors to give realistic, believable performances is unparalleled. Every week as we work on scenes Bill pushes us to access raw emotion to present something true to an audience. He has a way of leading the actor to finding ways of connecting to the story without explicitly telling them how to act or what to do. He helps you access the real vulnerable self within in order to tell the story. The training that we are receiving is more than just ‘learning how to act’, it’s learning how to access authenticity within ourselves. There are moments within the class that are pure magic because of that. Bill and Carla are brutally honest. They don’t give false praise. If you want to be coddled, don’t take this class. They push the class to show true emotion and honest performances. Not only is it improving my acting, it’s shaping me as a person in my everyday life. I highly recommend this class for anyone who wants to take their acting to the next level.” —Rob Haynes – Mesa

“I started going to the Howey Acting Studio in January 2017. Every week is a new opportunity to express myself and learn to let go. I love that I have the opportunity to work on a new scene with a new scene partner. I love that Bill tells it like it is. I find myself growing as a person, and growing in the craft. I am learning that this craft is much more than reciting lines on a page. It is about finding who you are, and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. It’s about sharing who you are with the world and getting out of your comfort zone.

Bill and Carla don’t give actors BS and tell them they see “Raw Talent” yearning to be nurtured. They offer constructive feedback and the opportunity to act every week. This struck a chord with me. I wanted someplace where I could be productive and receive real feedback from real teachers. I want to grow and develop this craft on a professional level. This class is truly something special and is worth its weight in gold. “ —Mathew David Torres – Phoenix

I’ve been a student in Bill and Carla’s Scene Study class since July of 2017.  Prior to that I had been taking classes at another local studio for several years.  I was looking to shake things up a bit and get a new perspective.  My initial opinion of the class was that it was very different from what I was used to.  Bill asks a lot of questions of his actors, as he uses the Socratic Method.  Initially, this was tough for me.  I wanted to be told how to do my scene and how I could make it better.  However, after a few classes, I started to understand that if an actor is given all of the answers, the creative process and the discovery from that process is taken away.  Through Bill’s poking and prodding and repeated use of the question, “What is the character going through?” I began to think for myself.  The scene was my oyster!  I’ve had so much emotional growth over the last few months.  I’ve learned how to make my work more personal, and how to allow myself to come out through my characters.

Bill and Carla are also incredibly dedicated to their students’ growth.  They stick around for as long as needed after class to ensure each student understands what he or she is working on.  You can’t get out of the building without Bill’s famous questions, “You get it?”  If not, he’ll explain.  If you’re still not getting it, he’ll call you the next day.  This level of dedication is what sets Howey Acting Studio apart from the others.

As a person who kept everything bottled up inside, Bill and Carla Howey have helped me get outside my comfort zone. They have given me a solid foundation in acting. Bill taught me the importance of using life experiences to my advantage and making the work personal. Bill and Carla’s class has been helping me to expand and grow as an actor, at a faster pace than I expected to. They inspire and challenge me to go deeper into my emotions and to take risks on a weekly basis in a safe environment. I always look forward to each weekly session! Phoenix is lucky t have them!”   —Sharon Yormick – Gilbert

“I walked into the Howey Acting Studio with no prior acting experience. Nervous, scared, and very excited, I began my first class. The room went quiet, the lights dimmed, and I was performing for the first time. Upon finishing, it was silent, until Bill broke the silence with a positive critique I was not ready for. He evaluated my strengths and shared with me the things I could work on to enhance my performance.

It has been 5 months now, many scenes, and much critique later from the first night I walked in. Bill’s attention to detail is amazing. He is so aware of the dynamics in creating a great scene/performance. We have worked through so many things in class that I have benefited from. I not only have learned to be a better actor, but in turn, a better person. Bill has pushed me to be uncomfortable, to trust, and to find it in myself to tell my story.

The Howey’s treat everyone equally through class and bring the best out of each and every one of us. I cannot say enough about the class and the instruction. I am beyond excited to continue this journey and education with Bill and Carla Howey’s guidance.”

“I’ve never been to another acting class before or had any experience for that matter, but Bill and Carla opened their arms to me and made me feel comfortable right away. Bill and Carla aren’t just incredible teachers, they’re incredible people, they tell you the truth and want you to grow and evolve into the best you can be. They have really helped me come out of my shell and learn how to be more vulnerable and open. From this class I have learned so much about acting and life overall. This class teaches you about emotion, stillness, risk and more. It’s about being patient, working hard, and taking the road less traveled while having fun and meeting some interesting people. That’s the cool thing about this class, it shows you how acting is a true craft.    I would recommend this class to anyone who is serious about acting. Thanks Bill and Carla for being so great.”     —Kelley Durell – Mesa

“I must compare Bill Howey to the artist, Michelangelo, who relentlessly chiseled away at unassailable blocks of marble, fully embracing that the sculptures within would eventually reveal their true beauty.  I am drawn to Bill’s teaching for his kindness, his levity and his wise, insightful teaching.  I trust him to keep chiseling away and to help me to find the true beauty inside this aspiring actress, this marble, this quirky, flighty, potential work of art.  Love you, Bill and Carla.”

“The Howey Acting Studio came highly recommended to me and I started to experience why after starting the workshops they offer.  Bill and Carla have a true desire to see their students excel and be successful and not only help guide actors but challenge them.  Their knowledge of what works and how to bring a true sense of self comes from years of experience.  I already see and feel myself growing further in my skills as an actor.  And for those serious about this craft, whether a novice or advanced, I too highly recommend this studio’s classes.”

“Bill and Carla are simply the best.  Their Scene Study Workshop is a place to play, to try things out, and to make mistakes.  They guide you on a journey towards self-discovery and towards a better understanding of your own personal acting techniques, through harnessing your own strengths and weaknesses.  I love this class. ”

“I didn’t know what to expect when first joining to be honest, but Bill and Carla have made acting and learning ways to really develop and become a character so enjoyable. With actually life connections to teachings that make everything more clear, this to me is the best kind of training you can get. I used to say to my friends and family: “I like acting because I get to become other people and get away from myself “ but acting is quite the contrary and it really blew my mind when Bill and Carla explained how it’s all about being yourself. I actually have a goal I want to reach now because of them, which is what most aspiring actors are missing in my opinion. Thanks Carla and Bill! This class has really been amazing!”

Every week I look forward to going class.  They provide “NO BS” criticism which pushes me grow as an actor and person. Many acting coaches overly praise their students when not deserved, which generally results in one to plateau. Bill and Carla focus on the individual rather than a class algorithm.  It demands me to get out of my comfort zone and take risks which extenuates growth in all areas.   Most of all, you learn something new every class; plus they are awesome people.  Very thankful I came across the Howey Acting Studio.  —Matt Risi – Scottsdale
